After every road trip, I just can’t stand the sight of my vehicle’s interior. It looks as if a war had just occurred there. 

Maybe it was the kids who made a mess, or maybe it was just me and all my soda cans accumulating inside.

As many would say, the best way to avoid hectic cleaning is to do regular cleaning, as spending a couple of seconds throwing trash in the garbage can is better than spending hours cleaning a car’s interior of all the accumulated rubbish.

You have juice spills, coffee stains, fruit peels, cookie crumbs, chips residue, and so much other stuff having a party with all the dirt on the mats. 

So to not make a mess, there are different garbage cans that you can put in your Tesla, or any other vehicle for that matter, to make your trips much more organized and your interior neat and clean. 

But in a sea of options, it gets a little intimidating to decide on one. 

Tesla does not offer any garbage disposal bags or cans, so we have to resort to aftermarket options. 

I have listed some of your best options, from the cheapest to the most expensive.

I am the kind of person who likes everything organized, and when I say organized, I mean I have a little OCD. 

My garbage can selection is based on looks, practicality, and budget. 

One important thing to note:

The expensive ones, at the end of the day, are basically the same garbage cans that you can get for a fraction of the price, so it’s not a good idea to go for the so-called premium options.

So relax, sit back, and make an informed decision. 

Overall Best Tesla Garbage Can: NJNJ Waterproof Car Trash Can 

This is so inexpensive.

You won’t find this kind of deal very often, so it has to be number 1 on this list. 

The size is just right — not too big, not too small. 

There are some Tesla car bins in the market that are just not big enough, and you can’t really use them as a bin. 

Then there are those that are too big and ugly to be in a Tesla. 

This is just the perfect one. 

This NJNJ car trash can can also be a multipurpose bag as it has a lot of pockets. You can use it to keep toys, snacks, office stuff, or some handy tools so that they’re neatly organized during trips.

The bag is made to be pet-friendly, so you won’t have to worry about anything if you have a pet companion accompanying you on your road trip. 

To mount this bag in place, it has some hooks, which can be problematic — but not so much if you’re going to hang it on the headrest of your Tesla. 

But I would rather have a double-sided velcro to put it behind the front-row seats, in the center where there is some unused space.

This is the perfect place for a garbage can. 

Now this garbage bag is marketed as waterproof, which I think is a bit of a stretch.

It can be waterproof if you put a garbage bag in it, but if not, I don’t think it is. 

However, this bag looks good and can keep a garbage bag hidden inside, and you can simply throw it away when you get the chance.

Best Rear Seat Tesla Garbage Can: Newellev

Now this one doesn’t look like a garbage can, but you sure can use it as one. 

The rear seat center console has a space under it, and this center console organizer is made to fit in that space. 

Newellev also markets this center console organizer as a trash can for the Tesla Model 3, and why not? It does serve the purpose. 

The reason you would want to have a garbage can is to make the interior look neat and organized. You could use plastic garbage disposable bags, but it would defeat the purpose of a neat-looking interior. 

This center console organizer can do an all-around job of hiding all the garbage under the center console and organizing your stuff so you would be able to enjoy a clean and comfortable ride.

The design of this center console organizer, aka garbage can, is made to look OEM, which means nothing will appear out of the ordinary in your car, and you can easily throw/hide the trash in it and call it a day. 

It’s best to use disposal garbage bags with it, so you can easily take out the trash whenever you make a stop during your trip. 

This trash can is waterproof, so you don’t have to worry about any soda or juice spills on the carpet underneath. 

It also comes with a strong 3M velcro to keep it in place during driving. 

The material used to make this box is eco-friendly silicone, which is odorless, non-toxic, and wear-resistant.

Compared with the NJNJ car trash can which had a lot of mounting options, you can only put this one at the bottom of the center console of the rear seats. You don’t have any other mounting option. 

Besides the size and mounting aspect, this box meets all the requirements to be a great fixed garbage can for a Tesla Model 3.

And this garbage can looks 100% OEM. 

It comes with eight trash liners, which — it might seem weird — are basically the same size used for dog poop trash bags. So yeah, this trash can is very small, but you can get two of these for the price of one generic car trash can. 

So why not put one on each door and make the interior look just as it is — OEM. It won’t get in your way, so you can still comfortably open and close the door. 

This trash can is super easy to clean and does not require any hard labor because it is tiny. And did I mention cute? 

Even though it is small, its material is very sturdy, so it won’t break just like that.

Cheapest Alternative: Garbage Disposal Bags

This is probably what you don’t want for your Tesla, but hear me out. 

You can simply use these garbage disposal bags and throw them out when you make a pit stop during your trips for either the Supercharger or the restroom. 

It’s the easiest, most inexpensive way to deal with the trash in your Tesla. 

These bags are waterproof, and they can hold a lot of trash — and even more when you use a larger-size bag. 

There are so many different sizes available, and you’re sure to find a suitable one for your needs. 

However, they have this weird smell from the recycled plastic, which is not that great. 

They might also be a little too thin, and if you happen to bump it into something sharp and it has some liquid inside, you will be looking at a mess.

Their major drawback is their looks. It just doesn’t look good in the car.
