Wiper blades are one of the very few things that require regular upkeep on the Tesla Model Y, especially if you don’t want to end up having a rainbow on your windshield.
Bad wiper blades can also cause scratches and be a driving hazard.
In fact, my cousin had a terrible crash because his windshield had so many scratches that he couldn’t see a tree branch hanging down the road due to the lights of the oncoming traffic.
Other "bloggers" and "influencers" will push the product that pays the most, not the one that help you the most. We find what has worked best for the Tesla community -- and recommend it. We may get compensated (and that keeps the lights on)... but if we don't, WHO CARES? If every Tesla owner is recommending it, we will too!
We don’t want this to happen. So when you start hearing squeaking noises from the wiper blades, it’s time to replace them.

What’s the Right Tesla Model Y Wiper Blades Size?
The correct size of Tesla Model Y wiper blades is 26″ driver side and 19″ or 20″ passenger side, according to Model Y owners.
They seem to work pretty well, and most aftermarket manufacturers provide adaptors that lock them in place for a nice fit.
Interestingly, there is no specific wiper blade for the Model Y on Tesla’s online shop.
Which leads us to the question: “Are Model 3 wiper blades the same as the Model Y’s?”
The answer is YES.
The Model 3 wiper blades on Tesla’s online store have almost the same fitment as the Model Y wiper blades, so you can put them on without any modification.
The length differs by about an inch on the passenger side, but they work without a problem.
As Tesla doesn’t specify this on its website, some owners were agitated because they ordered both Model 3 and Model Y wiper blades.
However, Tesla service centers are expected to have them in stock, so if you’re looking for an OEM replacement, it’s best to have an appointment in advance and let them know you’re looking for a Tesla Model Y wiper blades replacement.

Best Wiper Blades for Tesla Model Y
There are a few aftermarket wiper blades specific for the Model Y.
Most aftermarket wiper blades for the Model Y are actually the same ones that manufacturers sell for the Model 3 as they have the same fitment.
Overall Best Tesla Model Y Wiper Blades: Bosch Aerotwin A102S
Bosch Aerotwin has been a very well-appreciated product by the Tesla community.
Bosch has plenty of replacement blades for the Model Y. I got the Bosch Automotive OE Specialty AeroTwin Set 3397014621, fit was great.
Velcade
The quality is good, and the price is great.
Their installation is also super easy, and the final fitment does not come short, though they are an inch shorter than the factory ones.
The only downside to these wiper blades is that they are a bit noisy.
Pros
✅ Perfect fit
✅ Easy to install
✅ Less expensive than OEM
Cons
❌ A little noisy
❌ An inch shorter on the passenger side
Best Budget Tesla Model Y Wiper Blades: XTechnor Wiper Blades
When it comes to saving some dollars, XTechnor is at your service. These are relatively cheaper than the Bosch ones.
Fitment is not an issue with these wiper blades, but their quality is of slight concern.
Main (driver side) blade in set was leaving 3-4 inch band of unclear window (in the center of the window) after less than 2 months of use (only second or third storm in California on the coast–so not extreme weather or conditions). The blades were the perfect looking replacements for my original Tesla blades. Passenger side was an inch shorter than the blade that came with my Model Y, but worked just fine (and still works fine). Never experienced blade failure at this speed–no issues with debris or unusual conditions; just defective blade. If it matters, the blade would clear in one direction, but then streak in the opposite direction.

Another downside to XTechnor Wiper Blades is the noise as they tend to start squeaking after about two months of regular use.
But the good thing about this particular product is that you can rotate it 180 degrees and use it on right-hand-drive Model Ys as well.
Their installation is relatively simple, and you can easily do it yourself.
You can give this product a try. Just make sure that you closely check the quality of the product you receive so that you won’t end up putting a defective piece on your Model Y.
Pros
✅ Easy to install
✅ Can adapt to right-hand-drive Tesla Model Ys
✅ Good fitment
Cons
❌ Would require replacement earlier
❌ May come with a defect
❌ Too noisy
Notable Mention: PIAA Si-Tech Wiper Blades
These ones are a bit on the expensive side, but the quality is top-notch.
They are also made especially for the Model Y, so the fitment is perfect.
However, they are often out of stock. If that’s the case, you can check out their Model 3 wiper blades instead.
Pros
✅ Perfect fitment
✅ Perfect length (if Craven Speed has them in stock)
✅ Great quality
Cons
❌ Expensive

DIY Wiper Blade Installation on Tesla Model Y
This is probably the simplest DIY procedure you are ever going to see.
Just follow these steps:
- On your Tesla touch screen, go to the car menu and select service.
- Switch on Wiper Service Mode. You’ll see the wiper blades coming up a little, sneaking a peek at you.
On your wiper, press the button on the center (the bulky piece) to release the blades and slide them out.
- Put your new wipers back into the lock.
- Back on your touch screen, toggle Wiper Service Mode off.
- And you’re done!
As you can see, it’s pretty easy. Here’s a YouTube video from Tesla Joy showing you the steps.
Some Tips to Get the Best Out of Your Wiper Blades
If you don’t want to end up with rainbows on your windshield, take the following precautions:
✅ Never use wiper blades when the windshield is dry. When dirt gets swiped over the windshield, it will get scratched.
✅ Always use a wet microfiber cloth to gently clean the windshield. It’s best to use a garden hose to make most of the dirt come loose.
✅ You can apply protective coating on the windshield like the Exoshield Windscreen Protection. It will protect the screen from scratches and environmental damage.
✅ Try to avoid the old conventional rubber wiper blades as they would end up scratching your windshield and won’t last as much.
Final Thoughts
Model Y–specific replacement wiper blades are not readily available in the market as of now. The only option that offers the correct length is the PIAA Si-Tech wiper blades.
But if you’re okay with an inch-short wiper blade on the passenger side, your best option is the Bosch Aerotwin A102S.
I would’ve named PIAA the overall best if not for the price point — almost double the amount for one extra inch doesn’t seem to be fair in my opinion.
