5 Best Tesla Model 3 Mirror Caps to Match Your Carbon Fiber Wraps

By Zac Ludicrous •  Updated: 01/31/21 •  9 min read

Side mirrors are the EASIEST car part to hit.

Local shops charge you $300 to install you a pair.

That’s why many get their hands on Model 3 mirror caps before someone accidentally scratches their rear view mirrors.

To top it off, some side mirror caps look fantastic on your car.

Finding the perfect one for you is the challenge.

Fortunately, I spent HOURS going through plenty of forum discussions, Facebook groups, and Amazon reviews to uncover the best Model 3 mirror caps.

Here are the results:

Best Tesla Model 3 Mirror Caps Overall: RPMTesla

Most mirror caps leave gaps on the edges when you look from inside your car — an annoyance for many.

As shown above, RPMTesla is the one of the few brands that cover the frontal area entirely.

If you’re looking for great looks, perfect fit, and genuine carbon fiber to match other accessories, consider these caps first.

I was skeptical to recommend RPMTesla because users told both stories of disappointment and satisfaction.

Digging deeper, though, I found out why:

The seller removed all complaints with a new generation product that people are now happy with.

Sure, the product is somewhat expensive given the higher-quality material,

But the build quality (and the matte finish in particular) looks like Tesla itself produced it.

Take a look at the installation video to see how the caps end up looking like:

If you own a white Model 3 and you wouldn’t stand small white gaps every time you look at the rear view mirror, then this is the carbon fiber product you need to consider first.

Pros:

Fits: All Model 3 years and trims.

✅ Perfect fit. Covers frontal area entirely.
✅ Genuine carbon fiber
✅ Available in gloss and matte finish

Cons:

❌ Somewhat expensive compared to plastic alternatives.

Best Tesla Model 3 Mirror Caps on a Budget: ROCCS

Tesla Model 3 mirro caps by ROCCS.

This product didn’t make it to the ‘best’ spot due to its plastic material — and because customers used to complain of a visible gap on the back of the mirror.

This was back in 2020, though.

It appears that the seller also the problem since reviews beyond 2020 are positive and claim a perfect fit.

Still, although they look magnificent from the back, the frontal lips are left somewhat uncovered.

(A less-than-ideal situation, especially for white Model 3 owners. )

Want a sneak peek on how these Model 3 mirror caps will fit your Tesla?

Watch the video below @5:05 to find out.

To me, the fit isn’t 100% there — but it’s close enough.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive product from a trusted brand in the Tesla community — and your own a black or silver Model 3 –, mirror caps like this will certainly get the job done.

But if you’re not convinced these will fit your needs, read on.

Pros:

Fits: All Model 3 years and trims.

✅ Affordable
✅ Easy to install
✅ 1-year product support

Cons:

❌ May leave frontal lips uncovered
❌ No genuine carbon fiber available.

Premium Pick: Taptes’ Model 3 Carbon Fiber Mirror Caps

If genuine carbon fiber suits your fancy (and you just want the higher-quality feel and finish it provides),

You’ll love these Model 3 mirror caps.

The matte finish goes along pretty well with the Model 3 Performance spoiler —

And the glossy variant is the one to choose for an outstanding shiny look.

The catch? The product in manufactured overseas — you should expect several weeks to get your hands on it.

Aside from that, there’s nothing else negative I could point out.

The service is responsive.

It looks fantastic whether you’re looking for a shiny look (gloss) or a more serious, dull finish (matte).

And the fit is perfect — although from some angles paint shows a bit, customers are satisfied and say it’s “just the right size.”

Pros:

Fits: All Model 3 years and trims.

✅ Perfect fit. Covers frontal area.
✅ Genuine carbon fiber
✅ Available in gloss and matte finish

Cons:

❌ Somewhat expensive compared to plastic alternatives.
❌ Shipped from overseas

Alternative Products to Consider

Frequent Buyer Concerns:

I heard of one case where mirror caps caused connectivity issues.

This happened under an already weak connection — and given that the cell antenna is hidden inside the side mirrors, the additional material caused the connectivity to weaken even further.

If you have a weak connection when using your Model 3’s cellular connectivity, I’d encourage you to purchase vinyl wraps instead, which I discuss below.

Most of the affordable products above leave a gap that makes paint visible from the inside of your car.

Either try the full-wrap Avsty Model 3 mirror caps.

Or wrap the frontal lips of your mirrors before installing the cap.

Here are some affordable carbon fiber vinyl wraps (and a video tutorial) to help you do just that.

Alternative & Complementary Products to Consider:

If you want to complete the looks by covering your side camera/ indicator, too —

Or you own a pre-2020 Model 3 and have yet to chrome delete it,

Below you’ll find the best alternative products in their respective category — and a link to buying guides like this one to find out more.

Best Tesla Side Camera Cover Overall: CoolKo

Tesla side camera cover by CoolKo.

According to Bellevue’s Tesla service center, your side camera (and the metal that holds it) are one piece.

Scratch, dent, or damage either and a $200 bill awaits to replace both.

Protect yourself with a side camera cover that costs 1/10th as much — while making your car look charming from all angles.

If your Tesla was manufactured after October 2016 (that is, it has Autopilot Hardware 2.0 or better),

I spent last weekend reading reviews and online forums to find the best Tesla side camera cover on the market.

This brand came out on top.

With both silver and red “T” stickers, this product not only protects your side camera from dents and scratches,

But also offers an incredible look — with various finishes and carbon fiber variants for you to pick your favorite.

If you’re looking for an affordable cover that looks fantastic and adds a unique touch to your Tesla, CoolKo is the cover for you.

Their product choice is a mess, though.

Here’s the list of choices they have available — click on the one that interests you so you don’t have to decipher their confusing labels:

On another note, some customers complain that the stickers don’t fit 100% perfectly where they’re supposed to.

Whether the problem is the sticker itself or the mold remains unclear.

That aside, the cover actually fits great in all Teslas — with the exception of Model S with Autopilot 1.0 (pre-2016).

With customers claiming they were “done in 2 minutes,”  you should be able to easily install yours.

(I’d suggest you start by aligning the shorter end on the bottom first.)

With 37+ ratings @ 4.6 stars out of 5, CoolKo is your safest bet for an affordable, good-looking Tesla side camera cover that lasts years.

Pros:

Fits: All Teslas built after Oct. 2016. Model S, 3, X, Y, etc.

✅ Available in black and multiple carbon fiber variants
✅ Affordable
✅ Easy to install. No tools needed.
✅ Cover comes with “T” logo mold & stickers
✅ Great match for chrome deleted Teslas

Cons:

❌ Confusing buying experience
❌ “T” logo stickers may not fit the mold perfectly

Best Universal Carbon Fiber Vinyl Wrap: VViViD

✅ 5-to-7-year outdoor lifespan
✅ No connectivity interference. Much thinner material than mirror covers.
✅ Affordable
❌ Takes some time and effort to install.

Our Model 3 Mirror Caps of Choice:

In conclusion, RPMTesla offers the Model 3 mirror caps that fit perfectly right out of the box.

If you want no paint to show (and spend as little time as possible installing your caps), they’re the way to go.

If you’re looking for a more affordable choice, though, ROCCS will get the job done for 1/3rd as much.

Just make sure you budget for some extra vinyl wrap to cover the frontal lips so no paint is visible after installing your caps (especially if you own a white Model 3).
