By Zac Ludicrous •  Updated: 03/05/22 •  7 min read

Thud… Thudd… Thuddd.

Tired of the striking noise coming from your Model 3’s trunk while driving?

Stuff just can’t stay in one place when it has space to move around—that’s basic science.

But what problem of Model 3 owners has aftermarket brands failed to solve?

After a thorough research on the subject matter, I present to you four of the best Model 3 trunk organizers tested and verified by owners themselves.

Let’s go into the details.

Best Tesla Model 3 Trunk Organizer Overall: FORTEM

Product Overview:

How would you know if a product is worth the investment or not?

Should it be economical? Quality must be awesome? Should there be enough social proof available?

This trunk organizer from FORTEM has all the listed qualities.

In fact, it is one of the best-selling trunk organizers on Amazon, with 19,614 total reviewers and 4.7 out of 5 stars overall rating as of this writing.

I can confirm the quality is very good. It nestles in the frunk quite nicely, the frunk closes without issue, and it even has a velcro top that can go off/on with ease (nice for keeping that takeout warm on the ride back home). You can obviously use it for the trunk/sub trunk as well. I’m getting absolutely nothing from this posting, I just thought some might like to know that there’s a nice, affordable option out there if you want an organizer for the frunk and/or trunk.

So….

Fits perfectly?
Trunk closes properly?
Fits in sub-trunk and frunk?
Affordable?

How can it fit in the sub-trunk and frunk with the same dimensions, though? Good question indeed!

This trunk organizer is collapsible. You can collapse it in half, or if you’re not planning to put anything in it, collapse it fully. Portability at its peak!

And as the icing on the cake, you’ll also get a one-year warranty. Even after a lot of research, I couldn’t find any major downside to this product.

A very few customers complained about the bad odor, but the majority turned out completely satisfied.

Pros

✅ An affordable option
✅ Fits snugly
✅ Appreciated by customers
✅ Offers plenty of space
✅ One-year warranty

Cons

❌ This specific model does not fit in the Model Y.

Runner-Up Tesla Model 3 Trunk Organizer: Rola

Product Overview:

This is another best-selling trunk organizer on Amazon, with 1,998 total reviewers and 4.7 out of 5 stars overall rating as of this writing.

A handful of Model 3 owners have tried this product, and everyone found it worth the investment.

There were some complaints though that the organizer, straight out of the packaging, stinks badly.

But this isn’t a major issue; just leave the product in open air, better if it’s sunny outside, and this problem will go away on its own.

Apart from that, if we talk about the fitment, utility, and quality, Rola is indeed worth talking about.

Here’s a positive review from a happy Model 3 owner:

Received mine yesterday. No smell like the Amazon reviews had. There was a slight plastic/rubber smell to it but once outside the box for a while it was fine. Those reviews must have been for a bad run of the product or they got something spilled on them in the warehouse. Mine is fine. Haven’t had a chance to test the fit but overall looks like a good quality product.

Considering the overall response of the customers and the economical price point, I’d definitely give this trunk organizer a shot for my Model 3.

Pros

✅ Fits snugly
✅ One of the best-selling organizers on Amazon
✅ Pretty roomy
✅ Affordable

Cons

❌ Some owners said it stinks badly.

Best Portable Model 3 Trunk Organizer: RPM Tesla

Product Overview:

This trunk organizer has many things going for it.

First of all, it is specifically designed for the Model 3’s frunk/trunk/sub-trunk.

Moreover, apart from fitting snugly and being of good quality, the design of this trunk organizer enhances its utility manifold.

It has adjustable compartments, so you’re not bound by the dimensional restrictions. Based on what you plan to put in there, you can arrange the compartments however you like.

And when you don’t need it, you can collapse it fully.

I picked these up last Friday from RPM Tesla. It definitely helps to be able to put things so you know where they are and can get to them easily. The compartments are adjustable with velcro tabs so you can arrange based on what you plan to keep in the trunk/frunk. For example, my wife likes to have paper maps to look ahead and to see what is near us so I keep two travel map books. Now they go along one of the trunk organizer sides. Before they were at the bottom meaning you had to take everything out to get to them. The charger is where it is easily accessible along with an emergency beach blanket.

How To Install

Here is a quick installation video from RPM Tesla:

Such a sleek design!

All is not sunshine and rainbows though.

Where the quality of product is great, the quality of customer service is way worse than you’d like to expect.

Many customers ranted about their unresponsiveness even though RPM Tesla is a well-known brand in the Tesla aftermarket industry.

If you could bypass this issue, then this product is worth your consideration.

Pros

✅ Custom made for the Model 3
✅ Fits perfectly
✅ Adjustable compartments

Cons

❌ Customer service isn’t that great,
❌ Putting tools or other such sturdy things in it won’t be a good idea.

Notable Mention: Tesmanian

Product Overview

I couldn’t find much social proof about this trunk organizer even though I tried my best.

There were a few Model 3 owners who tried this trunk organizer, and one of them shared a comprehensive review about how he liked this product. He turned out to be pretty satisfied.

I recommend the Tesmanian trunk organizer. This organizer expands to 30″ X 16″ X 11″. The organizer can be collapsed when not needed. The organizer can slide around a bit on the factory carpeting of the rear hatch storage floor of my Model Y but when filled with groceries it does not freely move around. The Tesmanian organizer has more interior volume than some of the less expensive organizers that I saw for sale on Amazon. I have not noticed any odor coming from the materials used in the organizer. There is no insulated compartment in this organizer if that is something you need. I would purchase the Tesmanian organizer again.

From the looks of it, the product seems really sturdy and well-built. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but when you look at the features, such as it being waterproof and collapsible, the price gets justified.

It wouldn’t hurt to give it a shot though! If you have some extra cash lying around and you love to try new things, this is the opportunity for you.

Do let us know about your experience if you do decide to go with this trunk organizer.

Conclusion

Trunk organizers can come in really handy.

Grocery shopping, everyday essentials, tools… Whatever you’d want to organize neatly in your car, trunk organizers can do the job for you impeccably.

I have laid down four of the best trunk organizers for the Model 3 per the recommendations of the Tesla community.

Hopefully, this buying guide will make the buying decision easier for you. Still, if you have any suggestions, feel free to comment down below whatever comes to mind.

Ciao!
