Tesla Model 3 OEM tire sizes differ in each of its variants.
The answer depends on whether you own a Standard Range+, Long Range AWD, or Performance model.
Well, worry not. As we go deep into the article, I’ll explain the tire sizes of each Tesla Model 3 variant and in what aspects they differ from each other.
But before that, I need to make sure that you understand exactly how to read and understand a tire size.
Figures like 235/45R18 must not have you scratching your head!
If that sounds interesting, let’s hop into it.
How to Understand the Tire Size
Like almost every product on the face of the earth, tires also have certain specifications that let the buyer know if they’re the right choice for them or not.
And those specifications are hidden in the tire code, which is usually embossed on the sidewall of a tire.
Let’s see what each letter and number means in the tire code:
- Tire Type: The first letter “P” indicates that the tire is a passenger tire. Other letters that explain the tire type include “LT” for light truck, “ST” for special trailer, and “T” for temporary or spare tires.
- Tread Width: The next three letters indicate the tread width of a tire, which is the distance between the sidewall edges of a tire. In the image above, “185” is the tread width in millimeters.
- Aspect Ratio: The digits followed by a slash indicate the aspect ratio of the tire. An aspect ratio of 65 denotes that the height of the section is 65% of the width of the section. The steering of the tire will be improved by a lower ratio.
- Internal Composition: “R” means “radial,” referring to the tire’s composition or construction. Radial tires are often made up of a combination of strong materials such as nylon, polyester, steel wires, and other long-lasting materials that are arranged in a radial pattern beneath the tread.
- Wheel Diameter: There will always be one or two numbers followed by “R,” which indicate the wheel diameter on which the tire is intended to be placed.
- Load Index: The load index is basically the maximum load a tire can hold. An 82 load index means the tire can withstand 1,047 pounds. You can check the load index chart to determine the load limit against any load index.
- Speed Index: This letter represents the speed at which the tire efficiently releases heat. Rubber wears more quickly the hotter it is. “S” represents “180 km/h” speed. You can check the speed rating chart if your tire shows any other letter.

Final Thoughts: What Size Tires Are on a Tesla Model 3?
Tesla Model 3 OEM tire sizes are pretty standard; they just depend on the wheel diameter you choose when ordering the vehicle.
If you already own a Tesla Model 3 and need to replace your car’s tires, I’d recommend you not deviate from the OEM tire sizes. If you do, you can face complications in the future.
Just consider one of the tires I suggested above and you’ll be fine.
On a related note, if you want to replace the whole wheel, maybe go from 18″ to 19″ wheels, you might face some complications if you’re not familiar with the minor details such as offset, etc.
I’d recommend you go through our Tesla Model 3 rims ultimate guide to get a clearer idea of the subject before you take any steps.
